The skills and knowledge that you gain in this course will help you to understand the world that you meet every day of your life. It can link well with all subjects. If you want to continue the subject into the 6th form there is a wide range of related subjects to choose from including Economics and Business, Business, Travel and Tourism.
The Course:
Unit 1 Setting up a business
This unit introduces issues such as setting up and operating as a business. It explores the activities of business and the reasons for success or failure. It encourages students to appreciate that businesses must operate within society and that this involves businesses engaging with a wide range of stakeholders who hold differing
perspectives. Students will find out about how to start a business, business aims and objectives, business planning, how to recruit people into the business, the legal structure of a business and the location of a business. Students also explore ways of marketing and advertising a business and keeping financial records.
Unit 2 Growing a business
Students investigate how businesses grow and the implications for all aspects
of the business.
Unit 3 Investigating Businesses
(controlled assignment)
This is a controlled assessment. Students carry out their own investigation of a business. Students then write up their findings in a business report.
