Introduction:
You only have to pick up a newspaper or switch on the TV to see how people's beliefs influence life and society in today's world. Religious Studies is a stimulating subject, which can give you a true insight into human nature and what makes people 'tick'. It is suitable for all students and it is not necessary to have any religious belief.
How will you learn?
We aim to guide students towards an attitude of tolerance and understanding, particularly important in today's Britain if people of widely differing cultural and racial backgrounds are to live peacefully together. Everyday issues are openly debated and each student is encouraged to express his/her views and opinions. The learning experience is made as interesting as possible, the subject lending itself to exploration through group discussion, drama, and visiting speakers and outside visits. A field study visit is offered as part of the course.
Where can it lead?
Religious Studies is a subject accepted by employers, particularly those where contact with the public is common (nursing, teaching, police, social work etc.). The school offers 'AS' and 'A' level Religious Studies for those wishing
to continue to study the subject at Post 16 or pursue the subject at college or university.
